Hardy Residence

The Hardy Residence, titled That Girl, House in its concept, is a modern eclectic rental where psychedelic meets reality. It was designed for forever-young souls who like to change their perception, with every room layering depth, color and dimension. Wabi-sabi objects invite an appreciation for the beauty in imperfection, from the organic mirror at the entry to the slatted wood wall with its hooks. Versatile textures, vibrant colors and music fill the house, keeping it contemporary yet classic, casual yet calm. There is plenty of room to relax and recharge, dogs included, because at the end of the day it is all about good vibes.

The design was developed room by room. It began with a color and texture story, then carried that palette through the entryway, the living room and the kitchen and bar, so the house reads as one idea from the front door to the back of the room.

The entry shows the approach at a small scale. A slatted wood wall with hooks gives bags and umbrellas a place to land, and an organic, wavy mirror hangs over a fluted wood console. A mushroom lamp, a checkered vase and a green glass bowl add the imperfect, handmade notes the concept calls for, so the first few steps inside already feel relaxed and personal.

As a rental, the house has to work as well as it looks. Durable, versatile textures and easy places to drop belongings keep it practical for each new group of guests, while the color and character give them something to remember.
