The Sam Houston Hotel
Houston, TX
The Sam Houston Hotel is a historic downtown hotel whose ground floor was reimagined during design development at Gin Design Group. The scope covered the entry, reception, lobby lounge, bar, coffee bar, private dining and a billiard room. A library wall lined with green banquettes and landscape paintings anchors the lobby lounge, with leather chairs and antique brass lighting throughout. Plaid carpet and new mosaic tile matched to the building's original borders tie the rooms together. The images shown are renderings from the design phase.
The 100% design development package, issued in June 2024, organized the ground floor room by room. At reception, a dark wood and grasscloth feature wall frames a front desk with a marble top, a blue leather surround and brass accents. The lobby lounge pairs a long straight bar with a recessed banquette built into the library wall, upholstered in quilted green velvet, with picture lights over the artwork.
